Our old friend Andy Van Slyke's back in the news. Apparently, he's the first base coach for the Detroit Tigers. Who knew? Not me.
Yesterday, he had this to say about Ozzie Guillen and Latinos: "“(Guillen’s) a guy who wears his emotions on
his sleeve. He is, if you want to
call it, an atypical Latin baseball player. I
don’t believe that it’s true for all Latinos, but a lot of people’s
perception is that Latinos are hot-headed. He has certainly shown that
he gets a little upset and a little excited and the littlest, silliest things."
Nice Andy, real nice. Not the worst thing I ever heard, but still...can't be making generalizations like that these days.
