Remember the guy who was out pretending he was Big Ben and Brian St. Pierre so he could get laid?  Well, he's at it again...this time doing his best Jerame Tuman impression.  And, again, he got busted.

Got to be pretty dumb to try this thing again.  Then again, you have to be even dumber to hand somebody $3200 in cash because he said he was Jerame Tuman.

Deep down, I think I kind of like this guy.

I like Ike

 

Shows how much I know.  I was just putting the finishing touches on a post about how there's no way the Steelers will get a deal done with Ike when I read this.  Great news. 

I love Ike...I just really didn't think the Steelers could afford to keep him.  The going rate for corners is too high right now.  But, apparently Ike doesn't care about the going rate.  Ike cares about playing for the Steelers.  I had no idea this guy had this sort of attitude.  I love it.

Imagine.  You get Ike locked up, plus McFadden's about to have a break out year.  Those two alongside Troy and Anthony Smith?  We might be looking at the best secondary in the league...

Bucs swept the Cards.  Woo hoo.

Best part?  Chris Duffy doing what he's supposed to do as a leadoff man.  Getting on base and scoring runs.

This is not a joke: the Pirates are 15-13 since the All-Star game.  Yes, a winning record...

Yay. Madden ratings.  No surpise, Willie Parker is fast.

As seen above, Ben's QB cone is significantly bigger than it was last year...good to see.  QB cone still sucks though.

Ben starts Sunday

Cowher put an end to all the "will he or won't he" talk - Ben gets the start on Sunday.  He'll take the reigns for a drive or two, then it'll be Shane Boyd and Omar Jacobs going back and forth.

Hines will sit out with a hamstring, so Nate Washington will take his place.  Washington's going to be this year's break out start...mark my words.

I'm pumped to see Omar Jacobs get some reps.  According to reports he's been really struggling in camp...

What's in a name?

         

I love a good name...particularly a good football name.

The Steelers have a lot of great ones in their history.  Roy Blount lists most of them in his book About Three Bricks Shy of a Load: Bob Balog, Byron Beams, Max Kielbasa (coincidently, my high school nickname), Dick Riffle, Walter Szot, Joe Zombeck. 

Those are all good names.  My favorite though?  Current Steelers offensive line coach Russ Grimm.

Is that not the toughest damn name you ever heard of?  Russ Grimm.  Say it out loud.  Russ.  Grimm.  It's almost too good to be true.

Let's break it down.

TheFreeDictionary.com defines grim as:

grim (grm)

adj.  grim·mer, grim·mest

1. Unrelenting; rigid.

2. Uninviting or unnerving in aspect; forbidding: "undoubtedly the grimmest part of him was his iron claw"

3. Ferocious; savage: the grim advance of the pillaging army.

Not bad huh?   There's more...

Grim comes from the old English grimm which means "fierce" or "cruel".  That comes from the Swedish word grym, which means "furious".  And that one comes from the Proto-Indo-European word ghrem which describes the sound of rolling thunder.

Plus, there's Ben Grimm aka The Thing (see above) the toughest comic book character of all time.  Literally.  Made of pure, solid, rock. 

And Wikipedia says this about the temperment of Jack RUSSell Terriers - "Built for speed and strength, they will always be ready to play." 

So, add all that up, and this is what you get.  Coach Russ Grimm is fierce, furious, ferocious, savage, cruel, and similar to rolling thunder...he's built like a rock...he doesn't budge...and he's always ready to play.

Pretty decent name for a badass offensive line coach, huh?

Oh yeah, also (not Russ Grimm related), I did a google image search for Max Kielbasa...no luck.  However, there is a Maxine Kielbasa.  And yep, she's a beaut.
